Remember Anne Frank? For those who didn’t have the opportunity to read about her diary. She is one of the iconic persons who manages to tell a story about what it’s like to live in the hellish days of Adolf Hitler.
Reading about her diary makes you transported back the ruthless days of world war. Her book “The Diary of a Young Girl” has become symbolic of the scale of Nazi atrocities during the war, and a true reminder of the dire consequences of racism and persecution.
Her book is widely-read around the globe. I remember way back in my sophomore years that it’s some sort of a requirement to read her book. I thought it was a shaggy story, later on I bit my tongue and realize that the book is really precious.
Yesterday (October 2, 2009) coming from annefrank.org. They finally released the one and only salvaged video-clip to at least catch a glimpse on the face of Anne Frank and once and for all commemorate her undying contribution to our history.
Please see the video:
July 22 1941. The girl next door is getting married. Anne Frank is leaning out of the window of her house in Amsterdam to get a good look at the bride and groom. It is the only time Anne Frank has ever been captured on film. At the time of her wedding, the bride lived on the second floor at Merwedeplein 39. The Frank family lived at number 37, also on the second floor. The Anne Frank House can offer you this film footage thanks to the cooperation of the couple.
Partnership with YouTube
Mascha Driessen, Head of YouTube and Display Google in the Netherlands says
YouTube is keen to support the project because of the importance of making this content easily available to the wider public. We hope this YouTube channel will help broaden the reach of the Anne Frank House, its educational power and its message of tolerance.”
Such a priceless video indeed, though the whole appearance of Anne Frank only lasted for 5 seconds, the feeling is very overwhelming. We do hope that the Annefrank foundation can found another footage like this one
