In the world we are living today, having an occupation is a necessity. It is a necessity because people make money by working to provide for other essential things like food, house and other bills. In line with this, we tend to look for the kind of job which can practically allow us to live this pricy world. Sometimes, we have to sacrifice what we really want just to cope up to our material needs. But this doesn’t goes with the employees of Google. Many of them have given their statements on how contented and happy they are with Google. Like any other jobs, there are downsides but that will not be enough for them not to be thankful they got in at Google!
Cinoboo, a 5-year Google employee writes about his experiences in Google and he included downside aspect while working in Google. He stated that the common problem is that almost every employee gets spoiled with all the benefits and bonuses they are receiving that it sometimes lead to inefficient works and whining to some simple things like the fudge in the brownies. This, as he told is quite embarrassing. He also did say something about engineers not carrying pagers with them all the time that may eventually cause them to lose touch to the real happenings in their data centers. But this habit of their engineers may have some advantages too like they can focus more to development and have adequate sleep to be more productive.
One former intern, Davmre, mentioned that there are always great tasting and superb food at Google. Not to mention, the excellent technical setup and many cool people there. Most of the jobs at Google, as he revealed are about systems and codes. Another employee, Dmazzoni, talked about his 4 years at Google and declared he couldn’t be happier. He also mentioned that he might leave Google someday but he couldn’t think of other large company that can match up to Google especially in terms of software engineering. He included in his statement, the strict code going on in the company and its generosity in giving bonuses and incentives to the employees who made positive output out of their jobs. He didn’t forget to mention the great lunch too.
Based on their stories, working at Google is really fascinating. Imagine having free breakfast, lunch and dinners? Not to mention free beers on Fridays plus working with the world’s experts. Working at Google not only makes and mold your talent and skills, but it does give you the best motivation at work you could ever think of. How I wish I can be one of the luckiest people on earth to experience Google’s work-life!
