Coca-Cola Vending Machine For Robbers?

Posted on 09 May 2010 by pinoytutorial

Well, from the inventors of hybrid cars, latest gadgets and the country that showered the world with technology comes yet another invention that may either amaze you or amuse you.  Aya Tsukioka, an experimental fashion designer had shown yesterday one of her newest clothing design, a skirt that can turn into a Coca-Cola vending machine.

Looks like another addition to the Japanese unusual inventions. The 29 year old designer had proudly shown and demonstrated how an ordinary red skirt with a swift motion could eventually turn into a vending machine. Although the idea seems to be hilarious Ms. Tsukioka had been motivated with a serious aim. She wants to ease women’s fear of crime. The said skirt can hide the women from her persuaders.

The new invention was demonstrated in the busy street of Tokyo. The simple skirt will be lifted to expose a large sheet of cloth printed with the familiar bright and red Coca Cola Logo and really can somehow trick any persuader since it really camouflaged to other vending machines. But maybe it will be possible as long as no one would try to find the slit to put their dollars.

The invention was inspired by the trick used by Japanese ninja assassins who cloaked themselves in black blanket so they won’t be seen at night. Tsukioka said that while British women would take time to learn self defenses, Japanese women would prefer hiding, avoiding embarrassing scenes. The Coca-Cola vending machine skirt had already sold 20 pieces and each selling at £400 each.

Although the said machine dress came up when Japan’s crime rates are declining, still Japanese women had been anxious about their safety influenced by sensational media. Adding to the quirky clothing design developed by Aya Tsukioka are other amusing Japanese inventions which include the manhole bag, a bag which looks like an ordinary man hole that when you put it down the street a thief will just run through it, the children backpack which can turn into a fire hydrant, knife proof high school uniforms made of Kevlar military vests, books containing tips for moms to dress their children in a way that will scar bullies away and paste color phones that can track global position system.

Japan is really the home of the greatest and also the most unusual inventions. Odd inventions are accepted by Japanese since they are open minded in terms of accepting even the most peculiar ideas. It is also said that Japanese society won’t just laugh so as making inventors not afraid to try new things. They believe that even useless things can be useful and that the weird logic of these inventions helps see the world in fresh ways.

Other races may not accept or even laugh out to these ideas but these inventions clearly show the cultural differences and that they just reflect Japanese tradition and sensibility.
