Over the years America has been dominating the air as well as the seas with its vast number of fighter jets and unbeatable carrier fleet. No other nation has been successful to beat its super carriers and fighter jets over the past decades. But with China’s development of the Dongfeng 21D Chinese Missiles, things are expected to change now.

The DongFeng 21D is a missile that could be launched from land and has the ability of accurately hitting and destroying moving super carriers up to more than 900 miles away. Basically, it is anti-ship ballistic missile and said to be the first of its kind in the world. The DongFeng 21D is the latest from China’s DongFeng 21 which apparently is a two–stage propellant as well as single-warhead medium range ballistic missile system developed by China Changfeng Mechanics and Electronics Technology Academy.
The DF 21 is originally created for strategic missions, but later versions turns out to be designed for both nuclear as well as conventional missions. And apparently, the DongFeng 21D is the latest variant from the DF 21 system and according to some reports China is still in the process of perfecting the 21D and final testing of the missile is scheduled by the end of this year.
The development of DongFeng 21D could transform China’s position in the Pacific balance of power and could significantly weaken Washington’s ability to interfere in any conflict between Taiwan and North Korea. With the DongFeng 21 D, US ships will also find some difficulty to get to international waters near China. Beijing has been widely vocal with its demand for the US to stay away from China’s territorial waters.
But some experts find it a little doubtful for China’s ability to perfect the Dongfeng 21D specifically pertaining to having that kind of accuracy in hitting a moving super carrier. And despite China’s effort, it would take some time for China to be able to catch up against US carriers.
A version of the Dongfeng 21D missile has been shown in the Chinese military parade held last year. If the Dongfeng 21 D could really do what it promises to do, even if it will not really match up the amazing fleet US has, US will still find it difficult to penetrate the international waters near its territory.

How long will it take for China to perfect the Dongfeng 21D? Will the Dongfeng 21D give China the ultimate power in the Pacific region? These questions are yet to be answered.

Let's be clear on a number of points, shall we?
1) Chinese technical know-how is excellent.
2) A tremendous amount of that same know-how is based on the importation of foreign technology. Very little of it is home-grown. The Chinese, like the Russians, excel at copying.
3) There is no body of standards in China, or what exists is extremely spotty and rife with corruption. The same can be said of the following:
3a) Manufacturing
3b) Logistics
3c) Quality assurance and quality control
3d) Supply (materials and distribution)
3e) Mass production instability (lack of uniform and regimented machining and manufacturing across lines from different facilities operated by different companies) (this is true more often than not in Western programs, such as the Airbus 380 or Boeing 787)
4) The more advanced a weapon is, the more likely it will fail. The converse is also true, but not as predominantly (examine the many cases of Cold War weapons systems developed and put into production by the United States and its allies, and those of the Soviet Union and its satellite states; plenty of examples of high-maintenance AND low-cost systems failing repeatedly).
Primarily due to point 3, I do not see that this missile system in reality poses any particular threat to any foreign navy.
Everything always looks spectacular…on paper.

thx for the info I wasn't aware of this weapon.
what do they have up their sleeve to deal with the F-117 Nighthawk, or the B2?

if you want to have a sh*t U.S:
everything u need:
1. Advanced satellite technology
2. Advanced Air-Force Technology
3. Advanced Port-able Anti Air Sh*t
4. Long Range Sh*T missile
If not.. you are in deep sh*T!!!!

Yeah! and U.S.A is having a hard time fighting the insurgents who have shit technology with all the advanced weaponry U.S has. Remember Vietnam!!!!

Total nonsense and bovine excrement! This is a BLUFF! It it was real the Chinese government would NEVER have even mentioned it! Anyone remember Sun Tzi? He said "When weak act strong and when strong act weak! China is ACTING strong because it is seriously weak and the leaders know it. So what to do? Show a picture of a ballistic missile and claim some never before seen characteristics.
In case of a Western-style allout conventional war China's ass will be grass and the US a lawnmower! China has never won a conventional war! Remember when China in the 1970's tried to teach Vietnam a lesson? China was handed a humiliating DEFEAT!

MrSatyre, name me rockets Russia copied from the west? Are you aware that USA launches its Atlas 5 using Russian engines for nearly 10 years already? And will continue doing so for another 10 years (engine RD-80) Russia is basically a leader in rocket tech be it SAMs, volley launchers, ballistic missiles or space rockets (Baukonur is the busiest launching site on the planet ). S-125 (tech from 50s-60s) shot down the stealthiest striker around F-117 (yes it is stealthier than even F-22 but has absolutely terrible aerodynamic characteristics unlike F-22 which is a great fighter).

Fire that thing off and you are f#cked. You’ll be trying to fire and control the second with your satellites down, your communication systems destroyed, and 10,000 missiles and fighter jets flying at you at hypersonic speed. Then what?
F*ck war.

Why does US takes upon itself anything that happens in the world? China is far away from the USA and unless USA brings war on China, I doubt Chinese would do any adventure of that sort.

The object isn't to win, it's about population control and money.
