Racism is everywhere but it didn’t struck us that even BIG G could somehow forget to set parameters for this dillema. If you have been using images.google.com lately for finding pictures of US First Lady Michelle Obama, then you’ve probably seen this monkey image in the 1st SERP (search-engine result page) even while your safe-search browsing is turned-on.
Obviously, many viewers were surprised and reported this to Google. Recently, Washingtonpost unveiled a formal apology statement by Google explaining the images SERP is sometimes “beyond” their control even with all the careful scrutinization they implement with their algorithm, somehow “glitch” like this still appears.
Here’s the full apological statement of Google:
Sometimes Google search results from the Internet can include disturbing content, even from innocuous queries. We assure you that the views expressed by such sites are not in any way endorsed by Google.
Search engines are a reflection of the content and information that is available on the Internet. A site’s ranking in Google’s search results relies heavily on computer algorithms using thousands of factors to calculate a page’s relevance to a given query.
The beliefs and preferences of those who work at Google, as well as the opinions of the general public, do not determine or impact our search results. Individual citizens and public interest groups do periodically urge us to remove particular links or otherwise adjust search results. Although Google reserves the right to address such requests individually, Google views the integrity of our search results as an extremely important priority. Accordingly, we do not remove a page from our search results simply because its content is unpopular or because we receive complaints concerning it. We will, however, remove pages from our results if we believe the page (or its site) violates our Webmaster Guidelines, if we believe we are required to do so by law, or at the request of the webmaster who is responsible for the page.
We apologize if you’ve had an upsetting experience using Google. We hope you understand our position regarding offensive results.
Sincerely,
The Google Team
Remember: Google will never choose to replace their mega-complex algorithm over censorship. As Google stated,
“Sometimes Google search results from the Internet can include disturbing content…Such sites are not in any way endorsed by Google”.
Absolutely correct. However, one should understand that If Google will totally do “censorship” over all websites that contain these kind of racy photos. Google will lose most of its major traffic. And yes expect that another version of Google will rise to cater these type of adult-rated searches. So if you’ll ask us if BIG G will do total censorhip? Never
Google is apologizing but still the total elimination of racism-induced images will not be eradicated over the internet. Those are the things even BIG G can’t do.
Proof: If you will go to images.google.com “turn the safe-search off” and type in “michelle obama monkey” as your query. Behold, there’s still foot prints of the controversial photo and mind you, they are plenty!

What about the massive numbers of monkey depictions of George W. Bush? Oh that is different, I suppose. See for yourself. http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/images/bl...
The Obamas are both racists who believe is the dispensing and/or witholding of privileges (affirmative actions, race retributions, contract set-asides, Black Liberation Theology) and/or puishments (mortoriums on convicted Black murderers executions in IL and MD) based on a persons race.

I'm sick of people calling it racist. She doesn't look like a monkey in real life, and doesn't look like a monkey in that manipulated image. I thought it looked more like some cave-woman.
This stupid race card is getting really old. Disagree with a black president and you are racist, manipulate the image of a black woman and you are racist. What, are black people so sensitive they think everything is about race. I know a few who are fed up with this tip-toeing around black people so as not to offend them. They are fellow human beings for crying out loud. Treat them as such. Unfortunately that includes the ugly with the good. They are going to get made fun of sometimes, and stop saying it is racist, humans get made fun of, especially in the spotlight, when so many people hate them.

Mr. Smith
Don't you know that racism is a one way street? The poor black people were oppressed 150 years ago. They were kidnapped from their nirvanic and blissful lifestyle in Africa by the evil WHITE man.
