Last Thursday was supposed to be an ordinary day for 59 year old Bill Jordan of Denver, Colorado. He was doing his friend a favor by buying Apple’s iPad, when thugs robbed him in broad daylight and took not only the merchandise, but his finger – the pinky of his left hand to be exact – as well.
The story begins when Jordan was in the Apple store in a Denver mall buying an iPad for his friend in Canada because the stocks are not yet available there. Because the bag was quite heavy, he decided to wrap the thick cord around his finger as he was walking out form the store.
He stated when asked by the police that he wasn’t even aware that people were following him when he left the store and neither did he expect to get robbed in the middle of broad daylight.
He said that a man started to yank the bag from his fingers and he felt that something was about to give, probably the cord, but definitely not the skin on his pinky finger.
About 2/3 of the skin on his left pinky finger was yanked along with the bag. There was no damage to his ring finger, but the bone on his pinky was exposed, so the doctor had no choice but to amputate it. The stitches will be removed soon.
Jordan has asked the police to catch the guy who did this to him so that it won’t happen to other people as well. His friend didn’t know what happened yet. But after appearing on the news and having lots of articles about this on the net, for sure his friend will know about the incident.
At first, this article sounded so ridiculous that I didn’t want to believe that it could happen. But it did. Somebody yanked a bag with an iPad inside it together with a man’s finger. It’s gross and it’s the type of things you could only see. Like world’s dumbest criminals and comedy shows.
But again, this happened to a real man from Colorado, whose intention was just to send the gadget to his friend in Canada because the stocks weren’t available there yet. This is no laughing matter. Nowadays, people will do just about anything to have their own iPad. Even if it means robbing somebody else.
