Surely, almost all parts of the world are starting to fall in love with the Apple’s iPad. It had started to hit the market as it collects many fans from teenagers to professionals and even in the field of business. Few days ago, the device is planned to be use by one Airline Company as part of entertaining customers while on board. Also, a month ago, it was reported that the device was x-rayed by a Japanese and proudly posted the pictures in his blog. With all of these not only did the product hit the market but also is a subject for many surprising and astounding ideas from several individuals.
But who would have thought that the device can be use in medical purposes? Yes, you read it right, iPad was used to assist in a surgical operation in Japan.
A team of doctors at a hospital run by Kobe University in Japan had made use of an iPad to assist in an operation. The device was used as a display aiding the doctor during the procedure. A video was posted showing the actual surgery and how the device was made useful. The iPad was seen displaying an image of the patient’s internal organs as the doctor operated. A staff was holding the device which was wrapped in a plastic and the doctor with his latex gloves on was zooming in and out the images.
The idea of using the iPad for operations is somewhat crazy and may look like it was just made to be an attention grabber. But the doctors claimed that the device was useful during the procedure. However, its uses was not yet that maximized since the images was not that clear because of the plastic covering and that it needs people to take hold of the device which seems to be not practical.
However, it’s another advertisement for the Apple Company in terms of the iPad’s potential use in the medical field. It’s nice to know that the device doesn’t only serve as an entertainment but can also be use in saving lives. With the possibility opened by the doctors in Japan for the use of the device in the medical field, it looks like Apple and other companies could work on their R&D to include devices that can serve in the medical field as well as in other fields.
