Another case of W-T-F scenario coming your way, and this time its not about scandals or other related smutty controversies. This is about a shooting! and oh this is not just your normal homosapien shootout. Its about a shoot-to-kill order over a laptop! Yes as much as we’re surprised it really happened on an airport in Israel. Wherein a woman lilysussman, was interrogated by Israeli officers in search for any ‘threat to their national security’. Here’s the seemingly futile evidence they gathered from the woman’s belongings: A photo about a graffiti, which read “Fuck” scrawled next to the Jewish star of David, An Arabic phrasebook, a journal entry that mentioned a Palestinian, and caricatured street map.

Toward the beginning of the search an officer began clicking through the photos on my camera.  She froze on a picture  of graffiti, which read “Fuck” scrawled next to the Jewish star of David. “Why do you have this picture?” She asked me rather aggressively. “Because I was disturbed by it too,” I answered. She didn’t press the subject but continued clicking…presumably looking at pictures from a photo exhibit about Israel’s January attack of Gaza.

And then baam! The officer in duty made the wisest decision we’ve ever heard to diffuse a situation – that is to blow the laptop! using his tommygun! (the model of the firearm was not disclosed)

Moments later a man came outside and introduced himself as the manager on duty. And then, “I’m sorry but we had to blow up your laptop. “

I must say even with the 3-bullets that pierced the LCD of the notebook, the MacBook is still exuding with beauty in this photo.

Reactions?

Okay first of all we aren’t professional anti-terrorist black-ops commando to know what should be the ‘call’ on that given scenario, however, the source of the interrogation was clear! and that is, the officers thought the young lady is some sort of an ‘informant’ to an adversary that begs the question – threat to national security in the end of the Israel country. Now we don’t know the rules that governs Israel, but given the situation its highly puzzling to see that they need to ‘shoot a laptop’  just to pacify the situation?.

Reasons:

A. If they are so sure that the woman is some sort of a ‘stag’, then they should have detained her for further investigation and used the files on the laptop to gather more intel against her. Not to destroy it.

B. Shooting the laptop gives a 50-50 chance that the hard-disk will survive, looking at the scenario it was clear that the LCD was the one being drilled by the bullet. According to the woman, the harddrive was left unscathed. Which just proves that the shooting of the laptop was ‘very unnecessary’. If the aim of the officer in charge was to destroy any lead of such threat to their country’s national security,  then he made a terrible mistake of letting the culprit free of pass, didn’t he?

C. It was said that there were also journals and photos from the woman’s digicam which was scrutinize by the officers. If the name of the charges is ‘destroy all the leads’ then those paraphernalias should be destroyed also. Agree?

D. Although it was not said on the statement of the lady, maybe the officer in charge thought the laptop is some sort of a bombing-device and it opt him to destroy it immediately. But diffusing a bomb by shooting it? O-M-G, I think any average person who watch CSI know that any slight miscalculations of dismantling a bomb on such crude and coerce way may aggregate the explosive to blast on a jiffy!

The lesson of this story is simple, ‘what’s good for the gander is not good for the goose’, but in this case we are talking the opposite and not about sexes. One could say that every law is different from country and the way how people treated type of threats could be highly subjective depending on the current hostility of a certain country. We all know that Israel still falls on the hostile category, do we? If this was done on a more civil airport like in USA certainly the officer in charge will be the one facing charges but on the other hand because we talking on a different scenario, the case was quite the opposite.

Second? Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. It was said that the woman was crying frantically over the scenario fearing that all her files and hardwork stored in her laptop will all be in vain. Thankfully, it was not the case.

But try to imagine stepping your feet on her shoes (or heels if ever such idioms exist) and ask what if, the notebook was really obliterated? and you got no back-up?

…Suddenly you feel you want to melt like a candle and you hear the melody of Don’t cry for me Argentina on the background…while bursting into a moon-river like tears.
