Amidst the catastrophic storm “ondoy”, hundreds of thousands of Filipinos lost their homes. An estimated 400,000 abodes were destroyed and 240 people got killed (still rising) not to mention the millions of Filipinos who were affected. Sarcastically, some unconcerned citizen still manage to grab a wine during the crisis.
Today, we will be featuring another Pinoy, oh I mean a pinay. Who’s name is skyrocketing on the Philippine-Facebook community not because she won the nobel prize award nor achieved a PHD degree on Quantum physics but because she acquired the title of “The dumbest pinay ever” for ridiculing Filipinos on the wall of her facebook account with this retard english phrase.
Jacque Bermejo a.k.a Jackie Bermejo posted: (click to enlarge)
“”Buti n lng am hir in dubai! maybe so many sinners bak der! so yeah deserving wat hapend!”
English translation: It’s good that I am here in Dubai! Maybe, there are so many sinners back there! (Philippines). So yeah, they deserve what happened!
The lady is referring to the tragedy brought by Bagyong “Ondoy” to Filipinos.
The result?
World War III for the Filipino-Facebook community. Some reactions were quite tame though the remaining ones were very brutal.
See some screenshots: (click to enlarge)
Those screenies are nothing compared to what we have seen on forums. Other communities are even running a signature-campaign to bestow a “persona non grata” assault for Bermejo’s wrong-doing.
Who is Jacque Bermejo anyway?
To indulge more on the issue, J.B now called as “B.J” is a a Marketing/PR Officer on Dubai. It’s said that Bermejo has been residing in the Middle East for over four years and is now currently working on real estate and property development.
Her reply about the scandal?
During an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau, the person behind the controversial name maintained her innocence. Bermejo denied posting the insulting remarks on Facebook. The marketing executive is saddened by the comments she receives from fellow Filipinos for something she says she did not do.
She said, “Pero naman kung ako siguro ang nakakita sa post na yun, mag iisip naman ako na, bakit naman niya gagawin iyan. Bakit niya ilalagay ang picture niya? Bakit niya ilalagay ang real identity niya? Parang bine-bait niya sarili niya na, ‘Ok, kill me’,” said Bermejo.”
She explained that someone hacked her Facebook account and manipulated its contents two years ago. This prompted her to deactivate her account.
Furthermore, she brought the incident to the Dubai Police who advised her to just open another account.
She also revealed that accounts under her name in other social networking sites like Multiply and Friendster were not hers.
The hacker continued to manipulate the said sites often posting negative comments against her friends.
Let’s do a simple analysis:
In short, Bermejo’s excuse is “identity-theft” which is a rampant-crime on social-networking sites today. The only problem is: The public nor she, can’t prove the authenticity of that plea. Unless she files an affidavit/petition on the admins of facebook, requesting an I.P/Mac address verification of the user who wrote that malicious post then counter-check it with the I.P/Mac address she has been using with the same time-frame of course.
If those two matched then J.B is toast! otherwise, she might pass this ordeal and hopefully can clean her name.
As far as the public is concerned, the damage was already inflicted. Guilty or not, the words have been spoken and even if she manages to convince the official that the culprit is some hacker and not her. Her name is already etched on the minds of pinoy as the “dumbest pinay”.
Our opinion:
We can’t understand the part of Bermejo’s appeal wherein she said that her facebook account was compromised and was already deactivated for the past “2 years” then all of a sudden, this scandal poops out from nowhere.
Is this a coincidence?
If you are the hacker, would you wait for 2 LOONG years for a devastating “storm” to come… Just to destroy that person you are impersonating? Could somebody please call the lie-detection team right now!
Also in her statement it’s said that she has other social-networking site (multiply, friendster) that was hacked too during those years.
Hmm, may I ask another question with you guys?
If someone is playing cinderella over your macho account in FB/Friendster/Multiply won’t you report this to the admins immediately? and rigorously check if the situation was cleared 24/7? It’s like c’mon, your ass is on the line now and your family and friends are seeing it, obviously you will do everything you can to clear your name ASAP!
However, it seems on Bermejo’s case it took her years to finally realize that the threat was for real and only this day she finally decided to take things seriously.
We kind of suck on being a judge, but for those who have a keen sense of critical thinking, I am sure you know what we are trying to say
Oh to brighten your day guys, we prepared a spoof of Jacque Bermejo Vs. Mikey Arroyo- Bagyong Ondoy scandal ala kanye-west style! This one is circulating around the FB-Twitter world lately, so I thought, why not add some pictures to complete the wholesome experience
As the saying goes, “There’s always a crook born everyday”

on a wall post about Jacque Bermejo's official statement, claiming that the hateful posts on facebook was not her, another DEVIL INCARNATE arises … this time … he "means" it.

May comment na po from dubai police to verify yung claim ni Ms. Jacque. please see http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/09/10/01/103... SO NOW, THE PEOPLE WHO WERE QUICK TO JUDGE AND MAKE HASTY COMMENTS TO DESTROY SOMEBODY’S REPUTATION INCLUDING THOSE WHO TOOK TIME TO WRITE MS. BERMEJO’S BOSS (attention Mr. Cid), WILL YOU HAVE THE BALLS AND GUTS TO APOLOGIZE TO THE REAL JACQUELINE BERMEJO OR STILL CLAIM YOUR INNOCENCE AND MAKE EXCUSES NA HACKED PA RIN YUNG STATEMENTS NYA WHEN SHE WAS CLEARING HER NAME? WILL YOU STILL SIDE WITH THE PERSON BEHIND THE MALICIOUS ACTION (ayun yung taong yun masarap ang tulog habang tayo nag-aaway-away at may nasira ang pangalan)? Baka naman we have become worse than the actual person who made the malicious comment, kung sino man sya. What is left for us to do is help the real Jacque Bermejo out of this traumatic experience na di nya kagustuhan and lets exert our efforts na lang to help each other na makabawi sa nawala dahil kay typhoon Ondoy. pati na po magdasal since meron na naman pong bagyo na darating. Yun lang po.

God gave us the capacity to think. It's up to us on how are we going to use it. If you were in Marikina, your house got destoyed, one of your family members died, and you have read that kind of comment in facebook, what would you do? would you still think that way? would you still think that "ah, maybe somebody hacked her account". Dave, inital reaction would be anger, take that in mind. Maybe she made a statement to the DUBAI POLICE way back in November 2008, but its still not enough to clear her name. I'm also confused about her whether if she really did it or not, bact fact is: 1. Filipino got mad, 2. she didnt put an effort in clearing her name, 3. Hacker's dont wait for typhoons and post malicious or insensitive comments in facebook. If that was a real hacker, then i bow to him for being consistent in hacking. 4. Like jaquepoque said below: Real hackers wont just post anything like that, instead, they will make it even worst especially when that hacker really hates you.

@ Anonymity:
Nope. I doubt if anyone would admit they were wrong.
@ Everyone:
Filipinos are overly egocentric, so full of pride, so full of righteousness. We're only ever good at accusing things but never the opposite. Perhaps this is why some Filipinos abroad detest our mentalities because we actually cause our own dilapidations. And moreover deny it. Agreed? Of, course you won't. You deny it as I speak.
Here's something you can use to put some light into that head of yours:

Oh sure God gave us the capacity to think teoti! and even logically and very reasonably so we aren't (or should i say shouldn't be) like dogs or some lowly animal who are easily swayed by their emotion or instinct. The people who commented on facebook and other blog sites i do assume do know how to use other tools to research after the fact before typing in what they thought were right to say at that time, but clearly many didn't choose too, like the rumor-mongerers or the i-don't-care-who-i-kill guy out there. I had relatives out there in Cainta who at that time we havent been able to contact as well as dear friends who lost a lot, but guess what, i got so much concerned about them and about founding ways to help and only had my attention on this issue two days after the storm. And that made me wonder what these guys who commented were really concerned about, if indeed they have been so affected themselves by the flood? I hope they were not just riding the tide of hate without really thinking clearly just like what i have learned since from the many events in the past (remember the how many times there have been rumors circulated thru text messaging which eventually were found to be false information? or the "usisero" mentality shown during the past coup d' etatS?).
it may also serve you well to check other sources too so you will have presented here something much better. Your statement " she didnt put an effort in clearing her name" gives clue to your ignorance on the latest and not-so latest updates on her and the issue (The Dubai Police have made a statement it is clearly a case of Identity theft, she already made an official statement, her company did so too, she already had an interview with Dindo Amparo of ABS-CBN the video of which is already available in YouTube, she went to the consulate, law firm and communicated to the NBI). What have you been doing all those times before replying to my post then? You did said you are also confused.. so what did you do to ease your confusion?
So what will be enough for someone innocent like her to do so she can prove her innocence? How about start imagining yourself now in her shoes? I'll ask you the same question you posted: "What will you do?". If indeed it is your intention to be on the good side, i'd say be of help in unmasking on who the real culprit is, not pinning down on an innocent person. Otherwise you are here just to ride the hate bandwagon too or worse hold the banner of the closed-minded club out here.

Practically from some posts i read halos ganyan na yung nakalagay dun sa fb account na na-hack eh. Or you didnt know? You only read what bloggers have posted Jaquepoque? Yung mga nag-circulate na pics were screenshots lang nung actual comment and yung replies but none of the other contents of the account. I'd say baka nabasa mo nga yung content ng the rest ng fb account na yun to support your statement na yung nag-control ng account is not a hacker. Tignan natin kung sino magpapalusot.

Bumped into this page. here's my 0.02
@dave b / side of jackie – you should realize that jackie has a problem from the point that it took her 2 years to get so serious on the facebook issue. You are saying that she already took "care" of the matter. Though, it didn't materialize. So, she is now reaping what she sow. Identity theft is getting rampant today. And it's a person's responsibility to be aware of the implications once that crime is committed on your account. If you have time read the privacy policy of FB/Twitter etc.
Guilty or not, the consequences of her action is eating her.
It ain't over till its over – that's the theme of jackie's mistake, she though reporting it way back years ago is enough, then she got the biggest surprise of her life when someone "play" with her FB account again. And the rest was history.
@ the people Dave B called "everyone" – The term "don't get too emotionally" is a good way to start. If someone in the future made a havoc like this again. Proclaiming more insane rants towards pinoy. Would you believe it?
It' said that jackie is already fighting to clean her name by submitting her "proofs" that she is a victim. However, even she does somehow manage to win over this case. The bruise has been made and it will take years to heal. Her name is already coined to some of the most insulting title in the history of pinoys.
Let's try to be more analytical
@ to me – I think I am pretty dumb to think that I am replying to a comment box. I know nothing could be change now. Both parties has their own opinion that they wouldn't compromise obviously.
I guess all we can do now, is to just "wait and hope" and if ever there will be like this incident on the future, we know our mistakes (I have a feeling this will happen again now that it was publicize)
@pinoytutorial . This is one heck of a post. Thank you for putting this online

Please count me in to have that liar bermejo in "persona non grata" campaign. You should have learn something from Thumper that cute rabbit from the movie Bambi. But I think you haven't seen that movie or else you wont be saying those things. So self-righteous! shame on you.

I have a few questions that you might want to answer since I think, you know to much about her and there is no doubt that you are her friend.
Tou said that….
(The Dubai Police have made a statement it is clearly a case of Identity theft, she already made an official statement, her company did so too, she already had an interview with Dindo Amparo of ABS-CBN the video of which is already available in YouTube, she went to the consulate, law firm and communicated to the NBI).
October 5th, 2009 at 5:50 am
1. Seriously? Why only now when she can do it a few years ago? Now she's putting a lot of effort just because she got some attention?
2. Alright, she is a victim of identity theft or whatever you call it. After a great storm like Ondoy, suddenly a thief arises from nowhere then created an account, added a few friends in Facebook and said "Buti nlng am hir in Dubai….."? Seriously?? WTF? IF I was that thief I would make it even worse, and by worse I mean saying statements like "Sheet!may teetee ako!" or "P0KP0K PO ME". Think about it Mr. Dave! NOW that is a very clever thief! That person actually knew what would happen and he knew that saying those harsh words would make an impact to us Filipinos. Bravo!
October 5th, 2009 at 5:50 am
3. I don’t know her and I don’t give a damn about her. She said a stupid statement and made an impact to me so I hated her, and there nothing you can do about it. If time comes that justice finds her innocent, I would not apologize to you and make an excuse. Because I know, she was the one who posted that statement. How can I be sure? COMMON SENSE.
4. Reason why she can't admit it? She will be stoned to death when she gets here.
It's either, be consistent in denying so that you'll get away with it or be crucified and stoned to death.
5. And Yes, I'm willing to waive the banner of the close minded club because she made a mistake and and she's to frightned to admit it. Once FB finds out the MAC address of the thief, I'm positively sure that it will point to her computer.
October 5th, 2009 at 6:04 am
October 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Tama! hehehehe
October 8th, 2009 at 8:52 am
@ Jackie Tyan:
Bulls eye!
Animal! Hahaha!
Eto official statement ng company ni Jacque: http://glennpaoloagoopio.blogspot.com/2009/10/cas...
Kung sino man yung nagemail, p**yu!
I appologize for my poor Tagalog. Bisaya man gud ko. Di ko maayu ug Tagalog. Hahaha! Which is why I write mostly in English when posting in pubs. =D

So if you find a sinful woman who Jesus tries to protect, you'll stone her to death because you're better than her? You're not very innocent or sinless yourself.
