Jojo All the way: Philippine’s corniest show?

Posted on 17 October 2009 by pinoytutorial

A lot of Filipinos are highly-intelligent people (no doubt about that) In fact, there are a lot of inspirational stories about successful pinoys being triumphant on their own field of expertise. However, during these past years, there are instances wherein some artist, celebrities (e.g, Mariah Carey) etc. are calling Filipinos as monkeys [copycat, mimicker, no originality]

Worst, the latest news is about a pinoy calling fellow pinoys as “ungoy” English Translation: Monkey. The sad part? It turns out that the source came from an iconic pinoy musical artist named Freddie Aguilar, bashing today’s pop-artists like “Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda”.

Now, we are not here to create a debate on which is which. But it’s clear that sometimes “some” pinoys really can’t help but to be blame for showing that they are that type of animal. Don’t believe us? Check this link. That’s just some of the hundreds of reasons why folks from other corners of this world call Filipinos as monkeys.

Today, we saw another pinoy that has a tendency to fall on that category whom Mister Aguilar loves to shout so much. His name is floating around the realm of Philippine’s Late-Night TV-series.

The name of the show? JOJO A. – All The Way!

If you bump on ABC 5 (A local channel in the Philippines) and its around (11:00pm – 12 midnight) you’ve probably seen this series. The theme of the show is like the David Letterman Show or Jay Leno Show. We thought it was great, but later on we realize it was quite synonymous to disaster.

Other reactions from viewers from youtube and comments from filipino-forums confirms that it’s tad too corny. See the screenshots

Take note: Those screenies are just a morsel. Just search this show on google and you’ll probably find same unhappy-reactions from lots of Filipinos.

To give you the full package of JOJO Alejandro. Here’s a link about his “great” biography.

And the err…supposedly, funny video…

First of all we would like to give thanks for the source of this video. I must say, it’s pretty hard to record a clip from your tv-sets nowadays. We edited the boring part of the video so at least you won’t sleep guys.

A simple question for you:

“Did you laugh at that video?” or find it somehow “interresting?”

Frankly, I already have a laughing-gas smothering my face the whole-time I am watching that clip yet still, I find it hard to laugh at all! And, if you’ll say that it’s the witty type of entertainment then pardon me, buddy.. but I think I can’t agree on that one.

Thebiggest-disaster we saw why Mister JOJO Alejandro failed to bring the humor out of his audience. Is, he keeps on laughing horrendously (with no reason) along with that annoying high-pitched giggling. And why does he keeps chuckling with his own jokes?

It appears that JOJO is finding it hard to make his audience laugh so to do it, he desperately laughs first, so his interviewee will be left with no choice but to laugh too. Geez… Did I hear you say “Fake Comedy?”

Also, did you notice on how “exaggerated” JOJO laughs when his interviewee crack a simple joke? Kind of annoying don’t you think.

If you watched Jay Leno or David L’s show… You probably see that they bring corny-jokes to the table, but they make sure that when they laugh their interviewee are reciprocating too on a same-sane level and not exaggerating it too much. However, on JOJO’s case, it seems quite the opposite.

Anyway, we leave the rest of the “critiquing” for your musing.

Wrap-up:

There’s nothing wrong with doing a late-night show version for the locality to watch. The problem is if you want to imitate someone then you might as well want to do it properly and not worse than the other guy. Jay Leno and David L got some awful-jokes to share too but they still hit their audience pretty damn well in USA.

Now, I don’t know about this guy.. JOJO. Could somebody please call Mister Freddy again and let him shout his favorite line!

If you love your midnight and have plans to sleep with a happy-thought then may we suggest that you think twice before watching this show. Just a friendly reminder icon smile Jojo All the way: Philippine’s corniest show?
