Now, before we start. I would like to ask you, what is your first impression when you saw these letters “B-I-N-G” ? I’ll give you a tip. This is not the newest rock n’ roll sensation hitting MTV nor the latest standard ringtone for mobile-phones and not even yahoo messenger’s new buzz. So you want to know the answer?

Spill! Bing is the newest search  engine unveiled by Microsoft this May 28, 2009. Once it’s established, It’s set to go with a head to head combat with Google. Though it’s not popular especially in the Philippines,  Microsoft has high hopes with their prototype search engine.

Now we are not quite certain, what in the world BING stands for. Is it an abbreviation? a synonym? A name for Bill Gate’s cutest dog? or perhaps Microsoft geeks just talk it over a hot bowl of ramen soup one day and they just scream “BING!”. Well, we leave those questions to Microsoft now.

We also know that a new website needs to be advertise in order for it to be popular. Along the advertisement comes the techniques, rituals etc. to promote and make it stuck in the head of the users.

Well, Microsoft got a brilliant idea! They held a contest for the best BING JINGLE! in the cyberworld. There are lots of aspiring youtube enthusiasts (experts and amateurs) who submit their videos to Microsoft. On the 1st week of August 2009, Microsoft proudly announce to the world the lucky winner. The title of the jingle is “Bing Goes the Internet” by Jonathan Mann, known on YouTube as “The Rock Cookie Bottom.”

Remember guys, way back when we are kids? That Jingle song we played along with our pals on Christmas. It’s really memorable, funny and simple. When we remember it, we usually laugh our hearts out.

Now look at this video again, can you feel that cheery feeling? If you ask me, I think it’s eerie. Well if it’s the new way of Microsoft to advertise their products, we are quite sure, kids will be having nightmares everyday whenever they see the word BING on their parent’s computer! Well done Microsoft!
