Talk about the latest in technology. Talk about iPad and an iPhone combined plus a few little tweaking. Then voila, now let’s talk about SNES HD for iPad!
Not much people are endowed to have an iPad and an iPhone. An iPad is a tablet computer while an iPhone is a smartphone both manufactured and marketed by Apple. It has its different functions. But with a few hacks, the iPhone becomes a controller to a Super Mario game seen on the screen of the iPad. How is this possible?
The SNES (HD) means a Super Nintendo emulator for the iPad is now possible. It is an iPad port of the popular Super Nintendo emulator Snes9x. Though based on ZodTTD’s iPhone port snes4iphone, the iPhone specific codes were re-written to match another coding style and the iPad environment. It looks like you have a wireless controller to the iPad where you can play your favorite SNES games more than 10 years ago.
This gadget has an iPhone controller application for remote control, Multiplayer which consists of up to four controllers which can connect at once, iPhone volume keys remapped to L/R buttons, full screen graphics which supports both landscape orientations, save state preview snapshots, and iPad optimized interface with “virtual console”.
With the iPhone as remote control, you get a touch-screen controller as opposed to those controllers with protruding buttons. It’s amazing when you don’t have to continuously hit on protruding buttons every now and then. A four-way multiplayer is awfully a lot of players for a game. Saving your snapshots easily is also a good feature. Also, it allows you to have various uses for your iPad working as a console and basically your iPhone as a controller. You can now use them to play games without putting any connection because you can use the wireless detection of both gadgets. It does really look amazing. With the tablet working at 720p the resolution is really for gamers.
However, I don’t think that the touch-screen will last long for game purposes because it’s really case sensitive. Both of these gadgets were not really opted for gaming, so the end-result is that it may have a lot of drawbacks and both gadgets may easily wane. Although it’s a good idea, they only thought of gaming. What about the other functions of the iPad and iPhone? They will fail to use it for the ultimate purposes they bought it.
Come to think of it, you worked hard on buying an iPad and an iPhone and will just have it tweaked to get you into playing games. To me, that amounts to having an upgrade take a real downgrade! You better get a PSP or X-box at that for lesser cost! And they better make a new screen and controller that would work similarly to the iPad and iPhone tandem. They won’t even face any legal issues with Apple!
