Majority of us look up to our teachers with such respect and high opinion. If you are a teacher or a professor, you would agree that such career is not as easy as juggling balls in the middle of the classroom. Aside from imparting academic knowledge, you also have to instill some values to your students. You may choose to deliver your message in a verbal discussion, but you may also choose to perform some memorable acts to get your message across.
Just like an OU professor by the name of Kieran Mullen. He strictly prohibits his students to bring any electronic equipments during his class as it would only case distraction not only to him but the whole class. However, an engineering major student of his, brought a laptop to physics class on Monday. Naturally the students’ attention was diverted to the electronic gadget instead of being just focused on what he is supposed to discuss. Mullen positioned a student’s bait (which is a actually a non-functional laptop) into a plastic container then poured liquid nitrogen on it. In essence, the liquid nitrogen is a no threat to the laptop. But when it was entirely submerged in the liquid, it became frozen and this was the time that Mullen smashes it onto the ground then told students to have the equipment be fixed by IT.
Mullen is actually a considerate teacher, as one of his students described him. But he did such an amazing display so that his students would think that he is serious when it comes to classroom regulations. Incidentally, Mullen has already done a similar stunt some five years ago when one pupil brought a cellular phone.
Some students may have learned from this action but still there are those hard-headed individuals who thinks of bringing laptops in Mullen’s class just to see how he would react. But some piece of advice to students who are planning to do this, Mullen may have done such a surprising scene, but this is only because he wants to convey a message to his class. Before challenging the teacher, remember that you are still the student and he is the teacher, so better behave and practice some respect.
