We are currently browsing for the newest updates around the metro, ‘till we bumped on this website (Robo.to) At first, I thought it was “cool” ‘coz it allows you to embed streaming clips on a jiffy. Then after signing up, I am quite dismayed with the minute services it provide.
On a nutshell robo.to provides service like sharing your video-clips and transform it into “calling-card” statuses. It also offers mobile integration so you can share-clips on the go and share it to popular social-networks.
Glancing at robo.to’s stratusphere I notice something quite strange…
Why are the majority of clips uploaded on robo.to are oriented to people who make fun of their faces? I guess these folks has “no choice” than to make their face look abnormal ‘coz audio is not ALLOWED! (muted) lols
Don’t you think it’s a bit “scary” ?
Roboto’s Disadvantages:
No sounds. (WHAT THE _ _ _ _!)
The maximum limit for each clip is a whopping 4 seconds only. Now you are telling me that audio isn’t allowed either? C’mon! What will be left on my “status” now?
No upload video option?
You can’t upload clips using external camera device like (video-cam, digi-cam etc)
No webcam, means no robo.to.
The only “allowed” device to record your clips is your webcam. How ‘bout the poor non-webcam users who rely on their cellphones? Pheuu
Easy integration with your mobile phone? Yeah right!
So where the heck is the easy-mobile integration? Voila! You need to send your video-clip via the robot-generated email robo.to provide.
Problem is: “What-if my cellphone doesn’t provide a wifi capability? Hello! How can I send my clips now?)
Currently limited on sharing to networks like (facebook, flickr, linkedin, googleme, twitter)
Where is the option to embed robo.to clips on avatar-statuses?
From the code that robo.to provides, it seems the service for avatar statuses is far from reality. So if you are hoping to make a human-avatar on your favorite messenger application (instead of the animated ones) keep your hopes LOW. The only thing that robo.to can assure is a 4 second non-audible surround system that can be shared with html codes.
Did I hear you ask? “Why should I use robo.to now? Youtube is far-better”
My answer: Aside from the 4 second clip, I don’t know. Try asking the developers of robo.to, surprisingly their homepage doesn’t even contain an “about” page?
Some “forced” Advantages:
- You can embed it in any application that accepts HTML (ZzzZzz)
- Reply with other roboto vids using your own robot.to clips. (Yawn. Can I sleep?)
- Use robo.to to create a 4 second (non-audible) “greet” to your friends on your social network.
(Obviously, even the lamest video-streaming network can do better than that!)
- Desperately try and seduce a new visitor on your website using your 4-second seductive clip. Hoping that person will “stick” on your page.
- Perhaps show how abnormal your face looks like?
- Use it to advertise your own product. (I hope that 4 second period will attract buyers
) - Sell your dirty collection of lingeries?
Our hopes for changes:
Enable audio
I hope this simple wish will not be deprived. Right mister roboto?
Increase the “4-second” limit
Can’t you at least make it to 10? What’s so special with number 4? is it your lucky number robo-to?
Provide uploads for ready-made clips and save new recordings on my PC.
The idea that connecting robo.to as an avatar should be push through, it would be ingenious if someday, statuses on social-networks and messenger application will be human-clips rather than just cartoon animations. This sure is worth waiting if that’s the developer’s aim
Oh by the way, robo.to became popular and currently, hitting 20k registrants because one of its investors is the popular RnB icon, Justine Timberlake. This just proves that even how “retardish” a certain tool is. Once a celebrity advertise it. It will became “pop-ular” too.
So, do you want to scratch your head now or what?
