School used Student’s Laptop Webcam’s as a Spy Camera! | Worst

a thumb School used Students Laptop Webcams as a Spy Camera! | WorstWouldn’t it be scary that the laptop that your child’s school provided for your kid’s use at home and school to solely provide better education and awareness is the exact tool being used to penetrate your home’s privacy and worst each action your child do! This is pretty alarming to anyone who would hear it, just the mere fact that it is a hearsay already gives me the goose bumps!

Blake J Robins has taken action on the said laptops that are being used by Lower Meridian School District to spy on students, and now a lawsuit is going on for Blake J Robins versus Lower Meridian School District. According to one of the students who attest that the allegation of against the school is indeed true is when he noticed that his laptop’s webcam automatically lit with a green light (which indicates that the webcam is on) without him doing anything for the webcam to turn on.

A more concrete proof of the allegation is that when Blake was reprimanded by the school’s Vice Principal of ‘improper behavior at home’ and the evidence used by the vice principal was a photo that was obviously taken by the laptop’s webcam provided by the school. This is totally going out of hand, as the people who you trusted to guide and teach your kids to do what is right and uphold integrity are also the same people breaking it.

This may lead to more serious circumstances that may also be the cause of your child’s misfortune in his career in the future (worst comes to worst if videos or pictures were to be produced or taken that can be taken against your very own kid).

So what does the school has to say about the stone being thrown at them? The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Christopher W. McGinley stated that all allegations are false. The software that caused the webcam to light up is only for the purpose of locating and taking still images of the user if in case it was reported stolen. That means they are saying ‘blame it all to the anti-theft software”, which most of the students find it weird because when they reported the said situation to a tech guy (from Mac I guess) they were told that it was just a technical glitch. Now we are all confused of who’s telling the truth.

Rest assured that the following has already been implemented by the school: (quoted from another website source)

  • Immediate disabling of the security-tracking program
  • A thorough review of the existing policies for student laptop use.
  • A review of security procedures to help safeguard the of privacy; including a review of the instances in which the security software was activated. We want to ensure that any affected students and families are made aware of the outcome of laptop recovery investigations.
  • A review of any other technology areas in which the intersection of privacy and security may come into play.

*But if you will ask me, I would say the school is guilty of the accusations just the mere fact a photo of Blake J Robins was produced to be taken against him.
