One Tweet can make a difference? Or a disaster?
Have you heard the buzz about a transit ticket collector that was caught sleeping during office hours? If not then most probably you don’t have a twitter account or you just don’t give a damn what’s happening with the world that’s revolving around you at the same time you’re no fan of the net! But guess what you will know it now since you’re reading this article.
The man I’m talking about is a citizen of Toronto, Canada working for TTC and the reason why he got caught sleeping is that some wise guy took a shot of him while he is sound asleep inside his cubicle at McCowan Station. The picture was posted on TwitPic which started tremendous rant from the masses. Speculation about this picture has flooded the net from different walks of life, which also diverted discrimination to TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) due to the recent fare increase or shall I say triggered the people to recall the fare hike that happened.
So what’s my say about this? I’m neutral! Honestly there could be 2 reason why this picture was taken. First some wise guy is trying to put the blame on somebody else for his mishap I hope you get the drift. Second it could be that a concern citizen is already fed up with the bad customer service he/she is getting from the station and when he saw the ‘napster’ (transit ticket collector) taking the sweet time sleeping, it made his blood boil and took the picture. I myself have been an employee and a customer and I feel for both.
But what I don’t like is the blame is being stoned to TTC just because this good old employee of theirs is sleeping. It’s like blaming a Restaurant owner for a waitress who was not able to take the customer’s order correctly. If this happened to you would you find it fair that the company you are working for gets the blame for your lack of discipline? It’s unfair isn’t it? This should also be an eye opener for TTC to audit their employees. In a way the company is still held responsible for the actions made by the people who works for them but not to be the one to take the blame.
Internet is a medium that is available for anyone anywhere in the world, it’s the best broadcasting device to convey your message all over the globe. Let’s be mindful and wise of what we post, let’s make sure that we are fully aware of the cause and effect it would bring to our lives and the lives people involve. Because what we may think fit may be harmful for others.
