World Cup referee Koman Coulibaly would not be seen for the next World Cup matches because of a mistake he made causing USA to win over Slovenia in a recently held football match. Koman Coulibaly is a Malian football referee and has been a full pledge international referee for FIFA since 1999. Coulibaly is one of Mali’s most experience referees who have been selected for 5 “Africa Cup of Nations” and the recent “2010 FIFA World Cup”.
However, in the recent 2010 FIFA World Cup, Koman Coulibaly became controversial because of disallowing a goal in a match between USA and Slovenia that gave USA an advantage over Slovenia and led to a 2-2 draw.
On the recent football match between USA and Slovenia, Coulibaly disallowed Maurice Edu’s 85-minute goal. Many find his decision unreasonable. Because of these game assessors and analysts who have watched the game gave him a poor evaluation. FIFA then decided not to let Coulibaly play part in any of the next games from matches 33 through 40 that will include USA’s critical Group C finale and Algeria to avoid further controversies.
As replacement FIFA assigned another well-experienced referee Frank De Bleeckere in this game that will decide USA’s fate. Frank De Bleeckere is a Belgian referee who has been a football referee since 1984 and became an International FIFA official since 1998. He has been in charge of many big matches and appointed by UEFA as one of its twelve referees to officiate the UEFA Euro 2008 matches.
As a preparation for USA’s game against Algeria, Frank De Bleeckere said that he would be watching the movie “Gladiator” because he expects this game to be a neck-to-neck battle between USA and Algeria. He will also watch the previous games of USA and Algeria to help him understand their game style and tactics. Frank De Bleeckere knows that he will also be under heavy criticism like the other referees who had made bad calls and became controversial like Coulibaly so he must be very careful yet fair in all his decisions. This game is said to be Bleeckere’s final World Cup since FIFA referees has an age limit of 45 and he is turning 44 this July 1st.
Because of this recent controversies among referees particularly Coulibaly, the FIFA referee committee decided to have an open day for the media people. Neither Coulibaly nor Lannoy (another controversial referee) was present in the event. Only Coulibaly’s assistant Inacio Candido graced the said occasion to answer questions on his behalf.
Coulibaly has faced the consequences of the controversial decision he made during the match between USA and Slovenia. Whether he made a good or bad call, only Coulibaly knows.

It was the correct decision to disallow the goal as there was blatant holding going on in the box what he should've done is allowed the USA to retake the FK as both sides were guilty of infringement.

Because the head ref, who you say messed up, doesn't call those offside penalties. He trust his sideline ref to do that. Probably why he didn't explain it. It was close, and I'm sure he's better than you.
Soccer blows!!
