This rumor may be connected to the testing done by Apple on multiple next-generation iPhones and there was information pointing that one of these has been embedded with a larger display. There hasn’t been so much change from the iPhone since the first iteration except for the iPhone 4 wherein Apple introduced the Retina display (640×960).

The rumored iPhones to have a larger display are known as iPhone 5,1 and iPhone 5, 2 and are said to be in the PreEVT stage of development. They also go by the name N41AP (5 1) and N42AP (5,2). The display of these smartphones is at 3.9999 inches diagonally. The screen would still be 1.9632 inches wide but will be 3.484 inches taller. Apple is also said to have increased resolution with the new iPhones having 640×1136. Such resolution can result to a screen ratio of 16:9.

Apart from the display, there’s also word that the company is on the works for iOS 6 which is customed for the new display. This is touted to have new home screen where there’s a fifth row for icons apart from the stationary app dock.

For now, we do hope that said changes come into fruit when Apple releases its new iPhone.
