Jokes not always result to people being happy. Just like what happened to Notre Dame player Annie Brophy who was disqualified while at the NCAA Central Regional Tournament.
Brophy had given false score cards during the final round. However, it didn’t came out as funny even with her attempt to put humor on the game. She was disqualified on the 14th hole at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus on Saturday.
Annie Brophy defended herself saying that her score card was accurate and she didn’t have any intention of giving a false score. However her explanations were never entertained since she was eventually disqualified.
Nancy Cross, chair of NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Committee, said that because of the false scores Brophy reported, it caused delays making Florida State, Oregon and Kent State waited around to see if a playoff might be needed in order to see which teams would advance to the finals.
Cross even said that Brophy is really a great kid and that it broke their hearts to remove a senior who had a good career. She is certainly a great kid but her unsportsmanlike conduct really needs attention and action from the committee. Notre Dame had been able finished the tournament in 17th place.
