NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Brian Vickers was reported to have been sent to hospital Wednesday night for an undisclosed medical condition. Because of this, the Red Bull team driver won’t be able to attend the Autism Speaks 400 that will be held at Dover International Speedway in Delaware.
Vicker’s Red Bull team doesn’t have any idea either on which hospital the NASCAR driver is being held. What they know is that the 26 year old race driver is still undergoing further medical testing. Some online reports claimed that Brian Vickers is supposed to visit Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. on Thursday. Perhaps, that tour won’t be happening anytime soon.
As a result, the Red Bull team will send Casey Mears instead of Vickers to compete this weekend. Mears will be racing in No. 83 Toyota while Johnny Sauter will be replacing Mears’ position at No. 36.
In a statement, Vickers revealed that he’s quite disappointed for not attending this year’s NASCAR event saying, “It is unfortunate that I will not be able to participate in the Dover race”. However, he is confident that Casey Mears will do his best for the team. Vicker’s team mates at Red Bull racing team are concerned about his health more than anything else. It’s only a “minor setback”, said Jay Frye, Red Bull Manager. They hope that the he will recover soon.
