Posted by After hearing the title of this movie, we had a little difficulty figuring out if it is a comic, spoof, cult or horror film (we thought about it because it’s halloween =D). A little research at movie databases and we’re surprised to find out that Broken Lizard’s Club Dread was a comedy/horror film released 5 years ago (2004). Hmm.. so it seems we nailed it!
The promotion title of the film was Club dread also known as Broken Lizard’s Club Dread (based from its writer/cast group’s name – Broken Lizard). This same comic writer/actor group were responsible for creating movies like Super Troopers and Beerfest. The group has 5 members (Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffeman, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske) and all of them play key parts in writing, acting and film production.

Typical Scary Movie Plot w/out the spoof
Broken Lizard’s Club dread is your typical comic-horror movie where at start guys and “hot” girls in skimpy suits are having fun (usually in the beach, clubs or private houses). Then out of nowhere a serial killer will pop out causing wide-array of panic among main characters (since it has a comic plot, characters will act like stooges and make fun of themselves). In the end, the culprit(s) will be apprehended and/or killed (in a silly way of course) and everything will turn out great for everyone. Sometimes, it will leave a twisted ending probably to prepare it for a sequel (in case viewers love it) or just to make it a little unique. Most probably you’ve watched “tons” of similar horror-spoof films. Some are great (at first) but soon, it really get too boring to watch. We have compiled a great list of Halloween movies to watch in case you’re sick and tired of the same ‘ole slasher, gorry, and other cult themed films.
If you haven’t seen this movie, see the official movie trailer below. We cannot recommend the film because there was nothing special in it. But we also don’t discard the possibility that some may find it interesting just like in the case of Paranormal Activity. Curious moviegoers may watch it on DVDs or download it via torrent site (we recommend the former) but don’t expect something extraordinary.
