Its third time grandiose moments for the Canadian Women’s ice hockey team as they again, again and again take home the gold medal victory at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games on Thursday night. Canada’s pride vanquished the Americans, 2-0, and finally take the lead for three consecutive times.
After they clinched their third consecutive gold medal victory, they painted the town red through an on-ice celebration by members. They cracked open cans of beer and brandished bottles of champagne, smoked cigars, clowned around for photos and lounged on the ice surface, soaking in their victory. One player was photographed sitting in the driver’s seat of an ice resurfacing machine parked on the rink.
The momentum of celebration now is being questioned by some as it caught the attention of the International Olympic Committee. Mark Adams, an IOC spokesman, said they will look into that matter but it is not actually an exact investigation.
The members of Team Canada apologize if their on-ice celebrations, after fans had left the building, have offended anyone While the team is unlikely to face sanctions without a formal investigation, Hockey Canada issued a swift apology for the festivities.
