The Dallas residents through the efforts of their local government had come up with a good financial program, the “Bank on Dallas”. The said program has the goal to increase the quality of life of individuals especially the people of Dallas. It is designed to encourage the residents to use traditional banks versus fee-heavy check-cashing stores. The program was launched at City Hall last Wednesday.
The said program had long been a priority of longtime banker and council member Jerry Allen who recognizes the need of people of Dallas of basic understanding of managing their finances.
The top banks of the regions had confirmed their participation in the said program and will encourage people to open checking and savings account and use it for their day to day transactions. With using the traditional banks, people can help in getting away from check cashing shops and payday loan operators that charge high rates. Opening a bank account will help people save money and be able to build their own credit.
Bank on Dallas is intended for low-income residents and speak only Spanish. To make the public aware of the said program, fliers will be given as well as advertisements on radio and television will be made.
