Gaines Adams died last Sunday due to a heart attack, he was 26 years old. He died at Greenwood County, and was confirmed to be dead by the South Carolina hospital at 8:30 in the morning. Adams passed away in his sleep, and it is believed that an enlarged heart caused complications and cardiac arrest. This came as a surprise to everyone since he had no previous health problems.
Adams played professional football and played for the Bears. He was their Defensive End. He played for Tampa bay, but then was traded to the Bears last October. He was born in Greenwood in South Carolina, and was the 2006 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He had been playing football for the NFL for three years, and he was in 47 games.
Gaines was known to be a happy and patient man by his peers. He had many friends and everyone at the NFL mourns his loss. He was full of potential and had many years of success ahead of him, his passing is very untimely and he will truly be missed. He left behind his five year old son, girlfriend, parents, and his sister. The arrangements for the funeral are still being made.
