Rafael Nadal’s tenacity and consistency prevailed over Gonzalez’s tennis plays.

The Men’s singles quarter final match ended with a sweep as Spain’s Rafael Nadal easily defeated Chile’s Fernando Gonzalez (7-6,7-6, 6-0). The match was continued after it was suspended last Thursday (Sept. 10) after rain drizzled over Arthur Ashe Stadium. All games were again deferred, from Sept. 11 to Sept. 12,  because of rain showers.

Today, Gonzalez just seems to lack the energy and concentration needed to win the match. He did a staggering 59 unforced errors versus 13 from Nadal. Without the passion and the drive to win, He is in a NO-WIN situation against the 23-yr old Nadal.

There were reports that Gonzalez’s planned to have short rallies against Nadal (in order not to suffer suffer what happened to Gail Monfils). But as far as the match was concerned, We didn’t see any of those plans materialized. In fact, Nadal seems to be very “cool”. It seems He didn’t even sweat, changed his shirt nor ate his “magical” banana unlike his match with Monfils. It was a relatively easy victory.

Everything is now set for the Semi final round, Men and Women’s division. Today, Women’s Semi final round match will proceed as scheduled, 1st match will be Wickmayer vs. Wozniacki followed by K. Clijsters vs. S. Williams. Who will prevail as the best among these Tennis stars? That is yet to be seen.
