Legendary Danish author Hans Christian Andersen / H.C. Andersen celebrates his birthday today. In response, Google made a series of Thumbelina scene doodles in honor of the author’s 205th birthday.
Hans Christian Andersan was born in Denmark on April 2, 1805. He was a well known poet and author of several children’s books such as “The Little Mermaid”, “Thumbelina”, “The Princess and the Pea” and “The Ugly Duckling”. Perhaps almost all grown-ups have enjoyed reading one or more of H.C. Andersen’s stories simply because of their wonderful plot and creative character descriptions.
In all majority bookstores and libraries around the globe, Mr. Andersen’s stories are surely one of the most favorite to be read by children and adults. Google pay tribute to compelling changes H.C. Andersen brought to the world via his writing composition that they cite different scenery on his fairy tale “Thumbelina”. The story revolves around a thumb-sized girl and her adventures in life. H.C. Andersen invented the character although he got the inspiration from a similar story featuring miniaturized characters such as Tom Thumb.
H.C. Andersen became one of the most acclaimed children’s authors whose works have been translated into more than 150 languages. It is featured in many films, stage plays and ballet performances. Mr. Andersen’s stories left a legacy in everyone’s hearts and will sure to continue in more years to come.
