A huge fire broke in a 10,000 acre land in Herriman, Utah and has destroyed at least four homes in a night. According to some information, the cause of the blaze was due to live rounds coming from a training exercise at Camp Williams’ artillery range. Still, authorities are positive that the flames will be extinguished very soon.

About 1,652 homes were vacated and an approximate of 5,000 residents had to evacuate away from the fire proximity. Some of the residents were permitted to go back to their homes but still are not sure for how long.
It was expected that more damages will be reported as the fire goes on but officials were proved wrong, as they have found less damage than expected. Governor Gary Herbert himself examined the fire through the wind as soon as the day broke. The governor expected about 25 up to 100 residential homes to be destroyed by the fire but he was actually surprised that only four houses were directly affected.
Reports had confirmed that the bulldozers which created fire breaks prevented the flames from reaching several houses. Though, in any case, it was such a good luck. According to Michael Jensen, Unified Fire Authority’s Chief, the four homes that were destroyed by the flames were situated in the Cove Subdivision, south of Butterfield Park. Chief Jensen quipped that firefighters were still vigorously focused in killing the flames on the eastern part of the location.
