NASCAR team owner Jack Roush was hospitalized last Tuesday night after surviving a plane crash in Wisconsin at around 6:15 p.m local time. Fenway Racing President Geoff Smith proclaimed that Roush was the one flying the plane and was supposed to attend the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual Airventure in Oshkosh Wisconsin when the accident happened.

The National County Sheriff’s Department stated that there were two occupants on board the Beechcraft Premier Business jet. The accident happened when Roush was about to land the plane in Oshkosh’s Wittman Regional Airport. Other than Roush, a friend of him, Brenda Strickland of Plymouth also survived the crash. Both were rushed to the local hospital with Roush in serious but stable condition while Strickland was reported to only have minor injuries.
Smith announced to The Associated Press through a text message that Roush’s injuries included facial lacerations and may need surgery. This is the second time that Roush survived a plane crash. On 2002, the NASCAR team owner also had a close call when he crashed his plane to a pond. He nearly drowned during that incident and was only rescued by an ex-marine who was living near the area. A self-proclaimed Aviation Buff, he still continued flying after his near-death experience.
