Another item on the most viewed CBS series of TV-movies based on the characters created by Robert B. Parker is the Jesse Stone: No Remorse. The sixth entry appeared in another one on Sunday night at 9:00pm. It is the first one not based on any Parker novel but it still has the feel of Parker’s books. The movie starred Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Tom Selleck.
In the movie, alcoholic Paradise Police Chief Stone played by Selleck was placed on suspension and wasn’t allowed any contact with the other members of the Paradise Police which hinder the investigation of the murder of a convenience store worker.
Selleck was joined by other Emmy and Golden Globe Award winners Kathy Baker and Kohl Sudduth playing as Rose Gammon and Luther “Suitcase” Simpson, the only police officers in Paradise. State Homicide Commander Healyis played by Stephen McHattie, as with William Devane as Jesse’s psychiatrist, Dr. Dix, and William Sadler as Gino Fish. Saul Rubinek played Hasty Hathaway, fresh from prison, and Krista Allen was included in the cast as Hathaway’s ex-wife, Cissy.
Director Robert Harmon was good in giving characters enough time to really play their roles in the story. Jesse Stone: No Remorse is really one of the best entries in the series. Other series of the Parker novels includes “Stone Cold,” “Jesse Stone: Night Passage,” “Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise,” “Jesse Stone: Sea Change” and “Jesse Stone: Thin Ice.
