The famous “The Tonight Show” of Johnny Carson will be brought to life again in digitized format which will be posted in the internet after the relaunch of johnnycarson.com.

The owner of Carson’s “The Tonight Show”, Carson Entertainment Group, digitized and organized an online database of the show. They intend to make these clips available to researchers and producers. The show that lasted 3 decades has footage of more than 3,300 hours. The entertainment site of Carson will have 40 to 50 clips that will change on a regular basis. Soon, Johnny Carson’s show archives will be released on DVD. The 30-year old show is expected to be out in DVDs of 50 full shows.
Sotzing, a nephew of Carson and who formerly produced the show, told the Times that the archives will first be made available to media outlets for the purpose of finding and paying for licensed clips. After some time, the clips of Johnny Carson and the online database will be searchable by the public.
The late Johnny Carson, who died last 2005 because of emphysema , had started hosting the show since October 1962 and retired in May 1992. Sotzing said that the show is still interesting even though Carson was not seen on TV for 18 years already.
