Jose Offerman, also known as Jose Antonio Offerman Dono, was a professional baseball player for twenty years. He played for Major League Baseball teams and also played in the Mexican League after leaving the MLB. Right now, he is managing the Licey Tigers from the Dominican Winter League.
Last January 16, 2010, Jose Offerman was seen punching an umpire on the field. He has been known to have a high temper, especially on the field. The umpire who was punched was Daniel Rayburn, and he was knocked down because of the punch. This game was the finishing game for the winter league and it was against the Cibao Giants. Jason Bradley was umpiring fro the catcher’s plate, and he threw out the catcher for the Licey Tigers, Ronny Paulino, after he kept on challenging Bradley’s calls.
Offerman was talking to Jason Bradley, and then everything started to go downwards from there. Daniel Rayburn was umpiring 1st base, and was punched by Offerman. Security promptly came and took the two apart. So far, no charges have been pressed.
This is not the first time that Offerman has gotten himself into a fix for hitting people. Before, he was charged for hitting two of his opponents with a bat.
