Kill Bill 1 is a grotesquely-awesome film; Kill bill 2? Oh yes, Bill is Dead!…. Kill bill 3? What! I thought Bill is dead already?
This is the same reaction by the crowd who heard about the recent statement of Quentin Tarantino (Director of KB1&2)
On an interview by BadTaste.it, it seems Tarantino promises to the public that there will be a 3rd sequel for the said cult-film.
Mr. Tarantino laid-out 2 reasons for the enthusiast why would he wait for 10 loong years just to lit this phoenix out from the ashes.
One, I think me and Uma needed a 10-year break because the first one was so hard. And the second one is: I love the character of the Bride. I just really, really love her. And I think she deserved 10 years of peace. She deserved 10 years of no fighting. She deserved 10 years with her child B.B. just of peace. I put her through a lot in those first two movies, and I wanted her to have a nice peaceful life for 10 years. I wanted her to hang up her sword and have some peace. Then after 10 years, something will happen that makes her fight again.”
If you understand Italian then feel free to watch the interview.
Let’s calculate the time-frame.
3 months from now (October, 5 2009) it will be 2010 already. So it means that we will wait for 4 more gruesome years just to see this movie?
We all know what happened to Jodie Foster’s Silence of the lambs (1991) and how it plays out when the subsequent movie, Hannibal (lead by Juliane Moore on 2001) aired on the big-screen. It was still a big-hit but not as glamorous and appealing than the former.
Though we are not saying that Silence of the Lambs and Kill Bill are the same; however, if you will look at the scenario wherein you will keep-up with the time-frame of the film v.s the time-frame in real life; One must weight the patience of the viewers too.
If you keep the hopes of people too high before you present the “steak” they might get too impatient and be saturated with the long-wait.
I would also like to include that Uma Thurman (The Bride in Kill Bill 1&2) is already going 40. By the time the movie is getting filmed she will be around 42-43. Do you think she could keep up with the genre of the movie?
It’s also worth including that Quentin Tarantino is the one who directed the Pulp-Fiction movie, one of the highest-grossing cult-film of all time ($107,966 in 1994).
Although, Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds surprised the world by reaping ($108 million in North American box office receipts since its initial release on August 21, 2009) making it now the highest grossing film made by the said director.
It’s pretty clear that Mister Quentin T. still got some tricks on his sleeves; I just wonder how will be it this time?
And guys, do you think it’s appropriate to name the film Kill Bill 3, if Bill was dead already?
I guess we need to wait 4 more years to answer those questions.
For Kill Bill aficionados, I laid a simple vid-clip that will help you remember that titillating whistle which made Kill Bill movie simply amazing. (The Killer song)
I hope that song made you reminisce the good ole days!
