Ex-NBA player Lorenzen Wright was found dead on a wooded area between Hacks Cross and Winchester Road, Memphis last Wednesday after being reported missing by his family for the last two weeks. 34 years old Wright first disappeared last July 19 and was reported missing by his family last July 22. Adriane Harris, Wright’s sister gave a statement to The Memphis Commercial Appeal that the ex-NBA player has been out of touch before but not to the level of being out of reach for weeks.
Memphis CBS affiliate WREG stated that Wright was currently having financial problems causing his home in Atlanta to be foreclosed. Despite of being reported missing on July 22, the police weren’t able to do much action to the case because the statement of Wright’s mother conflicted with the one his father gave saying that the ex-NBA is currently on vacation in Europe.
The place where Wright’s body was found is near the area where he was last seen so the police crossed out the possibility of a foul play. A shot wound was found on Wright’s body and according to the investigation, the shot has a high possibility of being self-inflicted. This piece of information caused the police to highly consider the possibility of suicide given the ex-player’s financial dilemmas.
