Ireland’s Hollywood legend Maureen O’Hara celebrated her 90th birthday last August 17, 2010 in Co Cork with family and friends. Seventy guests arrived in her private family celebration including her step son, Chris Blair, son of her late husband Charles Blair.

The actress was greeted by daughter Bronwyn and nephew Andrew. St. Michael’s Bandon Pipe Band was also there to give tribute. According to her friends, O’Hara was thrilled with the various birthday greetings through calls, and birthday messages and tributes that arrived at her door in Glengarriff, Co Cork. An advance birthday celebration was also held during the weekend at Ahabeg Vista near Castletownbere, Co Cork with a recital by pianist David Syme.
O’Hara also received greetings from her favourite Shamrock Rovers team stating, “Everyone at Shamrock Rovers Football Club would like to wish our great fan and friend, Maureen O’Hara, a happy 90th birthday today.” Charles FitzSimons, father of O’Hara, was a businessman and part-owner of Shamrock Rovers Football Club. The actress is very affectionate of the club and said she would like to be remembered as a Shamrock Rovers fan.
Maureen O’Hara was born as Maureen FitzSimons in Ranelagh, Dublin on August 17, 1920. In 1937, she became a very young actress and glamorously played a lead role in Abbey Theatre in Dublin.
