Her father worked at a pharmaceutical company and her mother was a commercial artist. Meryl has a younger brother, Harry III, who is a choreographer and is married to Maeve Kincaid, and Dana, who is a salesman.
Meryl Streep debuted in 1971 on the stage if The Playboy of Seville and she had her screen debut on the television movie The Deadliest Season in 1977. Her silver screen debut was also in 1977 with her film Julia. Her fame skyrocketed when she starred in The Deer Hunter and Kramer vs. .Kramer. And she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1982 for her role in Sophie’s Choice.
