If you watch TV in the Philippines then you are probably aware of the name Mar Roxas or Mr. Palengke (Mr. Wet Market). Yes FOLKS the Senator! He is the one I am talking about. Sen. Roxas was the lucky Senatorial candidate who garnered 20 million votes – the highest ever garnered by a National candidate- to secure a position in the Senate during the 2004 elections.
Mr. Palengke must probably hitting his head again for yet another faux pas (false step). It happened when the Senator mentioned to the public that EDSA (Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue) should be renamed Cory Aquino Avenue. According to Roxas, this proposition should be made in honor of the late president’s act of heroism during the 1986 EDSA Revolution.
The punch line was unfolded 5 hours after Roxas made the announcement. He just withdrew the idea completely, saying that other options should be considered.
Are you serious? or just plain crazy? Why do you need to put out a press release of something you are not so sure about?
Is this guy also nuts on vying to become the President?
We are not certain what prompted Roxas to proclaimed this on public. Though, if you watch his recent TV ads, Sen. Roxas can be seen to be MORE LENIENT towards the poorest of the poor Filipinos. Why not? they compose 60% of the Philippine population.
If Roxas will capture their minds and “brainwashed” them to write his name on their ballots come this May 2010 then he will be the 15th President of the Philippines. And finally, all his “shows” will finally be paid-off. Do you think all of these “Acts of desperation” were putted together to support his political ambition?
We also noticed that more and more politicians are using “Cory” (late former President Cory Aquino’s nickname) for their own good. Of course they will deny its political inclinations. But the writing is very clear, you don’t need a “crystal ball” to see it.
Some glorious proposals made AFTER Cory Aquino’s Death?
1. Cory should be a Saint
2. Some places in the Philippines should be named “Cory Aquino”
3. Cory should have a monument
4. Cory’s face should be included in the 500 peso bill along Ninoy’s
5. Cory’s birthday should be commemorated as a National Holiday
Do you think all of the above would be suggested if there were only FEW people joined the late President’s funeral and prayer rallies? Would it be the same? Of course not!
If these dignified public servants were sincere in honoring Cory, they should have thought about it and proposed it while she was still breathing!
Clearly, Roxas is not a far-out political player like other TRAPO (Traditional Politicians)in the Philippines. He is very indecisive and seems to be run with his emotions lately.
Is He really SURE on becoming the President? The answer is yet to be revealed.

@First time reader
Don’t be so “onion-skin” regarding this related article, just because your president-bet was criticized, you will react violently. As you can observed (if you are reading other articles). Other potential candidates were also put on the hot-seat, to give their (pinoy tutorial) reader a different perspective of what they think and see about their potential 2010 presidential candidates. Let’s not be blinded by these political advertisements and “too-good-to-be-true acts of man”. If they were really what they were saying, then they must have prove it, not today, not last month, but since they were first elected in the lowest of government positions, long time ago.
@Pinoy tutorial
Keep it up!!! i would like to know more about the history of these “Presidentiables”
