Big East regular season title game presumes to open the NCAA Tournament 2010 for the Villanova to come into their opening round against as a number two seed with high expectations of starting a run towards the final four. But what really happens turned out to be different; instead, the Robert Morris Colonials gave the Wildcats all they could handle, based from collated reports.
Robert Morris dominates the heavy favorite almost from the opening tip. While neither team was especially hot from the field, the Wildcats were especially cold, and found themselves trailing 21-13 with just over five minutes to go in the first half and trailed 28-22 at the break. Morris is 15 seed in this year’s tournament
Villanova scores 28-26 to open the second half and making the gap even closer, but went ice cold again and the Colonials built their lead back up to eight, at 46-38 with just over nine minutes to go in the game. The two teams traded punches, with Villanova closing the gap as the game wore on, and with 1:06 to go in the game, Mouphtaou Yarou hit a lay-up to tie the game, and eventually send it to overtime.
