Polish President Lech Aleksander Kaczynski was among the casualties when the Tupolev Tu-154 plane has crashed while on its way to Russia. There are no any survivors on the accident.
President Kaczynski was aboard the chartered plane with his wife, army chief of staff, senior Polish government officials and other important Polish government officers were on its way to Smolensk-North airport in Russia to attend the 70th anniversary of Katyn massacre. All in all, there were a total of 96 people who got killed on this recent plane accident.
The cause of this tragic accident is yet to be released although there are speculations that terrorists might be responsible. The Polish government hasn’t released any comments about the possibilities of terrorist intervening on the death of the President and other Polish officials.
Several hours after the accident, Polish Parliament speaker Bronislaw Komorowski has taken over the Presidential position, as dictated by the constitution . An immediate election will also be held in the country to replace the late President.
The late Polish President Kaczynski has served the Republic of Poland since 2005 under the political party Prawo i Sprawidliwosc. Prior to becoming the President of Poland, Kaczynski also served as the Mayor of Warsaw, Polance from 2002-2005. He is also the identical twin of former Prime Minister of Polan Jaroslaw Kaczynski.
