Nowadays, since the teen pregnancy rates are rising, parents are getting more and more worried about their teen’s safety and virginity. This is why we see the popularization of things like purity rings and virginity vows. One of the most popular kinds of abstinence events is a purity ball. A purity ball is also known as a father-daughter / father-son purity ball or purity wedding. This is a formal dance that fathers and their children go to promote virginity until marriage. These are usually hosted by Christian churches.
During these balls, the girls and boys make virginity pledges to their fathers, and the fathers pledge to protect their daughters’ and sons’ purity in body, mind, and soul. This is meant to help fathers stay close to their children and keep them safe.
Some people, though, believe that these strong teaching of abstinence will, inadvertently, push them into breaking these vows. The pressure from their parents could make them go the other way, say some people who oppose purity balls. People also worry that it may take away their sexuality during teenage years. This poses a question on whether things like purity balls and purity rings or contraceptives are more useful in preventing teen pregnancies. See related video on Purity balls below.
