New York – World Number 1, Roger Federer put out the “lights of hope” for Robin Soderling to win a Grand Slam Victory in the US Open 2009. Federer confidently showed his prowess on Soderling by dominating the first 2 sets of the match (6-0, 6-3). Soderling managed to comeback on the 3rd at a tie break point 6-7 against Federer. However, it was Fed’s undeniable skill that dominated the 4rth set and ended the match at 7-6 tie break victory against Soderling.
In the end, it was R. Federer’s Ace plays and consistent shots that “killed” Soderling. The swedish tennis player couldn’t help correcting his angles forcing him to commit 45 unforced errors versus 26 of Federer.
Federer will face the 22-year old Serbian Novak Djokovic in the Semi Final round of Men’s Singles. Djokovic earlier outplayed Spain’s Fernando Verdasco in a 4-set match with score ( 7-6, 1-6, 7-5, 6-2). Verdasco earlier in the match complained of abdominal pains which greatly attributed to his many unforced errors. It was a lucky day for young Djokovic.
On Women’s division, the remarkable 17 year old tennis player from Georgia, USA, Melanie Oudin failed to enter the Semi Final round when Caroline Wozniacki (#9) of Denmark defeated her in a 2-set (6-2, 6-2) match. No worries though, a lot of opportunities await this young lady.
