“If I would make an appeal I would say he would be better off dead.” may be a statement that one would not want his mother say about him. But these words came from Josephine Healey, Raoul Moat’s biological mother.

Raoul Moat is the fugitive gunman who is being hunted by Northumberland police. Police disclosed that they had found Moat’s hideout at Wagtail Farm, Rothbury. They also found an eight-page letter addressed to his girlifriend, Samantha Stobbart. Stobbart was one of the three people that he shot over the weekend. It is also in this letter that Moat threatened to kill police officers.
According to Moat’s mother, he was just like the neighbourhood kids when he was growing up. But he had chronic asthma and did not have many friends. Healey said he and her son had a falling out when she remarried and had little contact with him for eighteen years. The last time she saw his son was in 2007 when he showed up at her doorstep and threatened her, putting his two fingers like a gun and pointing towards her.
The search for Moat is heading toward its sixth day. The police are making significant progress and are confident that they will catch him soon.
