We thought it was another joke or an internet meme hoping to go viral. But after watching the video interview of Ryan Seacrest with New Moon star Robert Pattinson, we’re a believer.

New Moon – the second Twilight installment – had its red carpet premiere last night at Westwood village and Ryan Seacrest had an exclusive interview with the twilight star in a Bing-sponsored booth.

Some people may not notice Robert’s response upon receiving the Bing gift bag, he asked “what is bing?”  even Seacrest didn’t notice it (or just pretended). Apparently, only celebrity reporters gave a second look on these subtleties. We don’t know yet what is Microsoft’s response on Robert’s “startling” remarks but it must be far from positive.

Perhaps it isn’t time to bash Microsoft for not having wide publicity about its new search engine considering that it was only launched last June 2009. On another angle,  we know that its Alexa rating is 23 (17 in US)  and Compete rating of 14 with over 51 million visitors every month, any chance Robert Pattinson didn’t encounter bing before? Probably the actor was too focused on his carreer that he forgot to surf the internet. Fat chance.

But you know what, we can’t blame some people for not admiring (or forgetting) Bing since it doesn’t look “appealing” especially when they launched the Bing campaign with that weird jingle. I guess many reacted that the jingle was “weird” in every way, Microsoft should have dumped it for their sake (We hope!). If you can’t remember what it was, see below for a refresher.
