Today, the world of sport casting experiences a great loss in the death of Rory Markas. The cause of death is still unknown however it is said that it was apparently of a heart attack. The sportscaster died in his residence, around midnight with medical staff in attendance. Markas did work for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball team and USC men’s basketball team. He also worked as an on air sports reporter on FOX 11. During his career, he was often partnered with radio announcer, Terry Smith and sports analyst Mark Gubicza (see below picture). The deceased was known for his signature line of ‘Just another Halo victory!’

Markas was a popular choice, well respected by both fans and peers in the field of sports casting. He possessed extensive experience in the profession, having been around for more than 20 years. The sports reporter has done play by play and announcing work both in TV and radio, for baseball and basketball. He has received awards in his lifetime owing to his talents such as four Golden Mike Awards for Radio Broadcasting and two Associated Press Sportscasting Awards.

It was noted that the celebrated sports icon was experiencing a blood clot in his brain, having had surgery during the last quarter of 2008.

An enthusiastic individual who performed beyond expectations, always the optimist and able to bring a spirit of positivity with those he managed to reach, Markas is sure to be missed by his family, friends, fans and colleagues.

He leaves behind his mother, Billie and brothers, Gary and Troy.
