September 17th is Constitution Day!

Many are not aware that September 17th is Constitution Day – a holiday event which is not too popular to some individuals. Others know this holiday to be called as Citizenship Day. Since a lot of people are not familiar with this holiday the various activities that surround this day go unnoticed. Constitution Day is a holiday meant to celebrate the establishment of the United States Constitution. This was signed on the 17th day of September in 1787.

There are a number of great events that take place on this historical day. One of the most popular activities on this day is Janet Madison’s Montpelier. Another type of celebration that will occur will be held at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. They will be evaluating the constitution and taking a closer look at how it came to be. A free potluck will also be available to the students.

These said activities will be open to the public in the Ranger room on Monday, September 20th 2010. The Costa Rican Constitution will be presented at this event by Dr. Aaron Mason. Although this occasion is not very well known, it is still a reason to celebrate and have some fun. This holiday is also very informative for those who want to learn more about the constitution and the people behind it.
