With the passing of tropical storm Hermine, the aftermath shook North Texas with a wail of sirens coming from tornado alerts. Three tornadoes were eventually spotted by the US National Weather Service as occurring in Dallas, Palmer and Gainsville respectively.
The heaviest tornado damage happened at Dallas. Apparently no one was ready for the tornadoes as clearing up operations were still ongoing from the preceding tropical storm. A warehouse was severely damaged in the south of Dallas while in Mockingbird Lane a building had its roof swept away. A truck was also sent flying due to the tornado’s strong gust lodging it inside a building.
The series of tornadoes developed as a remnant of tropical storm Hermine which coincidently caused the flooding in most areas of Northern Texas. The storm, Hermine is the 8th in the list of tropical storms of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season. It dumped a huge volume of precipitation with the highest at 13.20 inches of rain as of 4:00 PM, Wednesday. The United States has the most number of tornado occurrences in the world.
Although everyone knows that there’s a high probability that a tornado will come whenever there is lightning and thunder, no one can actually predict when they will exactly occur like what happened here.
