This Wednesday, the Senate takes on one of its challenging bills and signs it into law. A 60-40 vote in favor to extend unemployment benefits is on the way after the fourth and final attempt by Congress to have this bill over and done with.

The extension would make unemployment benefits in full force until the end of November. The bill will cover the deficit by $33.3 billion, and should benefit around 2.1 million people. The 60 yes votes came from 56 Democrats, 2 Republicans and 2 independents.
According to statistics, almost half of 15 million employed in the United States have been jobless for more than six months, a record high in long-term unemployment since the establishment of statistical data on employment which started in the 1940s. Further records showed that almost one quarter of the unemployed have not worked for more than a year.
Good news for people who were unemployed and were unable to get their unemployment checks. They can now be paid retroactively. On the other hand, those who exhausted all their benefits available before the lapse will not get any funds.
This is one bill that the people of United States are waiting for and would help elevate their lives.
