Five years after a presumed SUV crashed to death accident of Rosemarie Essa, a Cleveland jury convicted her husband, former Ohio emergency room doctor Yazeed Essa, of aggravated murder responsible for the death. Based on police records, on Feb. 24, 2005, Rosemarie Essa collapsed behind the wheel of her SUV, crashed into another car, and died. But last Friday, the situation turned out to be contradicting it as a mere accident.

After his wife’s death, Essa fled to Lebanon. Last year, he gave up an extradition fight and was returned from Cyprus to Ohio.
After some series of deliberation of the Jury, hearing all the presented testimonies, they agreed in the end with the stand of prosecutors that: Yazeed Essa had poisoned his wife by lacing her calcium supplements with cyanide – and that’s what caused the fatal car crash.
Yazeed Essa finally found guilty of aggravated murder and is now facing a maximum sentence of life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 20 years.
After the verdict was announced, family members of Rosemarie Essa found relief and justice. They even hugged police and prosecutors after jurors left the courtroom. On the other hand, while leaving the courtroom, defense attorney Mark Marein said they were disappointed with the Court’s verdict. The doctor’s relatives would not comment.
Sentencing is set for Tuesday.
