Millions of youtube users are now scampering at Adobe website to get the latest flash player update. The Adobe Flash player 10.1 RC plugin can be downloaded at Adobe labs and is necessary to run youtube streaming on Firefox, IE and Opera web browsers. For PC owners who are using Chrome browsers upgrade isn’t necessary. We tried running youtube videos on Firefox and Opera but failed to run any clips. There was an issue earlier that Adobe site crashed because of the sudden surge in visits for download upgrades. Youtube didn’t release any news about this happening but as of this writing, Adobe labs providing Flash Player 10.1 plugin is working very well. You might need to install the Orbit downloader software on your PC to conveniently download the plugin.

An important note from Adobe flash group says that you need to “uninstall” any previous version of flash player before installing the prerelease software. They have provided the uninstallation software support for Windows and Mac. Adobe Flash 10.1 upgrade is available for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and even Solaris OS.

The new flash Adobe flash player is also backward compatible with previous flash content but developers are asked to track if they can run their flash programs seamlessly. The update claims to accelerate video playback on Windows PC and supported X86-based netbooks. More support for this plugin can be seen at Adobe labs.

Update:

It seems like we found the reason why Google Chrome browser doesn’t need the flash 10.1 update. Google had collaborated with Adobe to improve its flash player experience on its browser (Chrome). Check the Chromium blog update about this press release.
