Ever since 2009 began, we were already ‘itching’ to see some good 2000-2009 decade recap. Some of what we’ve seen so-far are just plain-nuts (although I’m not saying its not funny) However, you can’t also deny ‘the need’ to see some breathtaking reality-bites on how’s the 10 years of our ‘life’ had become? Watchmojojo.com – One of the largest producers, publishers and syndicators of video content for broadband platforms, including the Web, wireless and out-of-home digital video markets. Provided a 3 and a half minute summary on how it has been for us.
Starting out on a high, the financial problems didnt take long to surface. Meanwhile, the 2000s brought us Wikipedia, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, while Google began its quest to take over the world. Apples iPod and iPhone swept the market, and breathed new life into the Apple brand. But who can forget the financial crises, fraud and incompetence that made headlines throughout the decade? Life savings and homes lost, companies failing and government bailouts became the reality in the 2000s.
Here’s the video:
I must say I’m impress on how they’ve started the vid, from the Y2K bug then tackling the major turmoils our society (business, tech, social class) ever faced. One thing I notice though is how they shift from one topic to another mixing the pros and cons of the events that took place – I’m sure some people might not appreciate it, but for me, I think its understandable knowing that it’s just a recap and the length of the vid is just brusque.
Seeing the birth of Wikipedia, youtube, Facebook and all the things that we are using today is just exhilarating making you think – What’s next for us? Although, the message of the video is clear – along the achievements comes the devastating fallout; The dot-com bubble burst is just a nightmare for all the tech-investors, The 2008 depression along with the Maddof scam worth 65 billion USD will always serves as a bitter reminder that everything is not what it seems to be.
Although, I’m a bit loss with the Jesus Phone? called iPhone? Hmm, I bet their source came from TC. I have a feeling not all agrees with that now.
In the end, they end the clip with ‘The only thing that’s certain, is that nothing is certain anymore’. – Yeah right, Sounds like a far version of the saying of Heraclitus that ‘the only constant is change.’
If you’ll ask me what do I choose? I say I’ll go for the latter. From here going in for another decade, expect ‘that’ saying is darn correct.
