You think Asus is the only company prepping for a tablet this quarter? Well, how about this new leak from the blogosphere stating that Acer will deliver its first Android 3.0 tablet PC? Whereas its expected release date will hit on early Q3 of this year.
According to DT, the Taiwanese-based company is bound to unveil its Tablet PC powered by an Intel Oak Trail platform running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) for its operating system.
Interestingly, it’s also followed that other companies such as Lenovo and Asus are “persuaded” by Intel to create its own Intel/Android tablets and have its launch “soon”.
Later on, it was revealed that Acer is already working with Compal Electronics company, for a mass production of this new tablet and its earliest launch date is bound to arrive on July.
Then again, this statement should be taken with a grain of salt since multiple of sources are predicting that Intel is partnering with Acer to release a tablet, but not powered by Android; instead, pushing its own MeeGo platform.
Likewise, expect some clarity about which is which when we hit the Computex 2011 event on May 31; where Intel will fully announced all of its devices that will be powered by MeeGo. Who knows? Acer might be unveiling two set of Tablet PCs, one that’s powered by MeeGo and the other one by Android!
